Holiday Demand Is Here. Is Your Supply Chain Ready?

The holidays are one of the biggest sales opportunities of the year, and consumers are heading into the season ready to spend. Making the most of that opportunity means having the right packaging in the right place at the right time.

That’s where DIZLOGIC comes in. We track the logistics market so DIZPOT customers can make packaging decisions while they still have options.

Shoppers Are Ready to Spend

The National Retail Federation forecasts U.S. retail sales in November and December will reach $1.013 trillion, up 4.2% over last year. For operators, that demand creates opportunity, but only if packaging inventory can keep pace.

The Freight Network Is Already Busy

That demand is landing on a busy freight market. FreightWaves’ October State of the Industry report calls the market fragile. Major U.S. ports are reporting near-record container activity, and domestic intermodal volumes are running nearly 9% above last year. The Logistics Managers’ Index shows transportation capacity fell again in September, to 34.4. Any reading below 50 means capacity is shrinking.

December Leaves Less Room for Error

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s compress working calendars across carriers, warehouses, vendors and customers just as holiday demand is peaking.

Look Beyond the Rush

If your December packaging is covered, what’s next?

  • What packaging will need replenishment in January?
  • Which high-volume SKUs need additional inventory coverage?
  • What’s already on the Q1 production calendar?
  • Which needs can be addressed now, while there’s still time to preserve options?

The goal isn’t to carry more inventory. It’s to keep predictable needs from becoming urgent ones.

Planning Creates Options

DIZPOT maintains consistent shipping lanes with its vendors, with containers departing roughly every five to seven days. That lets us consolidate orders and keep standard freight options open, even when the calendar gets tight.

Know what you’ll need. Build in time. Keep your options open.

If your holiday packaging is covered, connect with your DIZPOT Representative and start planning for January.
